Boromir out of the Mold (Or... When Resin Flies out of My Cup!)
Boromir came out of the mold very well. I must be doing something right after casting 8 of these characters. Hardly any flaws needing repair (bubbles, misformed areas, etc).
Although, this night, turned out to be my worst as far as pouring the molds. I am clumsy, by nature, but this night I took the prize. I had resin spilling and flying everywhere! My favorite black vinyl office chair got a good dose when the cup I was holding (with mixed resin in it) fell out of my hands and sprayed me and the chair. I had a leaky mold (Boromir's scabbard) that caused a puddle of resin to spill over the edge of my work table. If it were not for the drop-cloth, I would have permanently ruined my carpet. And I had the resin running down the cup instead of pouring into the mold, so that my hands were covered in drying resin! Yeesh!
As it is, I have to laugh as the molds actually came out great (once I got the resin into them, hah, hah) and the only permanent damage is a white spotted office chair (that resin bonded hard to the vinyl).
Look for the images of the painted Boromir in a week, or so. Don't rush me! Heh. heh.
